ASOMEX Members - SACS accredited schools in Mexico ASOMEX Member Schools
APPLICATION FOR MEMBERSHIP INTO ASOMEX

An interested school must write a letter to the current ASOMEX President, expressing its desire to be considered as a candidate for ASOMEX membership. The President of ASOMEX will inform the interested school director that the school must be accredited or a candidate for accreditation by SACS or one of the other U.S. regional accrediting agencies.

For a school that is interested in joining ASOMEX, and is either accredited or a current candidate for accreditation by SACS or one of the other regional accrediting agencies, the ASOMEX President will request information from the school concerning: governance, curriculum, faculty, financial situation, enrollment, etc. to enable the full membership an opportunity to determine if the institution would be a "good fit" as a prospective new member.

Member schools will receive a copy of this information prior to the next regularly scheduled business meeting. If there is a quorum at the business meeting, a majority vote by those schools in attendance will either accept or reject the idea to schedule a visit to that school by at least two representatives from current ASOMEX schools. All expenses for the visit will be covered by the interested school.

When the visit has been conducted, the visiting members will make a written report to the ASOMEX President. The written report will be made available to the members prior to the next regularly scheduled business meeting of ASOMEX. Based on the written report, the President will poll voting members to determine if the interested school should be invited to make a presentation at the next business meeting.

Based on the written report from the ASOMEX school visit, the presentation by the interested school, and any other pertinent information that may come forth from other sources, members in attendance at the ASOMEX business meeting will vote to accept or reject the school as a candidate for membership for a one-year period. A simple majority vote will prevail.

If the school is accepted as a candidate, the school will be required to pay full dues and comply with all of the minimum criteria to remain in good standing that have been agreed upon by ASOMEX member schools. At the conclusion of the year of candidacy, the school must make a request to be accepted as a full member at the next regularly scheduled business meeting of ASOMEX.

If there is a quorum, a simple majority vote by members will prevail. A school that is rejected for membership after a year of candidacy is not eligible to participate in any ASOMEX activities and must wait at least two school years before reapplying for candidacy status.

CRITERIA FOR ASOMEX MEMBERS TO REMAIN IN GOOD STANDING
(applies to all current members)

Pay full dues on a timely basis. Any school that does not pay their full dues within 90 days of the due date will be dropped from ASOMEX membership and will not be eligible to reapply for candidacy for at least two school years.

School must actively participate in at least five regularly scheduled ASOMEX events. One of those events must include participation in at least one of the two regularly scheduled annual business meetings. The school must also participate in at least one regularly scheduled ASOMEX sporting event.

School is expected to host one ASOMEX activity at least every other school year. Any ASOMEX member school that fails to: actively participate in at least five regularly scheduled ASOMEX events during any school year (August to June) and/or host one ASOMEX activity at least every other school year will be placed on probation.

If a school that is placed on probation fails to meet the criteria, mentioned above, during their year on probation that school will be required to withdraw from ASOMEX and will not be eligible for candidacy status for at least two school years.
